Meet Moniqie Scott of Unique Monique Creative

As part of our virtual markets we’re interviewing makers from across the North East. Shop local and shop small. If you’d like to get involved or help out the local creative community you can check out the #virtualmakeandmend hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

What do you make?

Children’s Books. The special editions come with hand made mice I have sewn.

How long have you been making?

1 year

Have you started a new project during lockdown?

Another Children’s book. Greetings cards.

Do you have any advice for new makers?

Start your own branding first – your identity – hit up on social media – have fun with your projects and don’t let them feel like a chore – talk to people – grow your network – enjoy yourself!

Do you have any suggestions for ways we can connect and promote as a community?

Facebook pages or groups with members to keep in touch and maybe share work that everyone is working on and to share connections, networking and useful links for everyone. Instagram is good for tagging people and events.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I organise story time events which includes reading my children’s books to children followed by a craft session and book signing. I am hoping to advertise this more at events and craft fairs.
