Meet Pauline Fraser of PRF Creatives

As part of our virtual markets we’re interviewing makers from across the North East. Shop local and shop small. If you’d like to get involved or help out the local creative community you can check out the #virtualmakeandmend hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Pauline Fraser has been a regular at our markets for just over a year now but has been making for over 10 years. She works in a wide range of medium including textiles, hand bags, felted and dyed scarfs, felted accessories buttons, handmade paper and hand bound notebooks.

We asked Pauline some quick questions about what she’s been up to recently.

Have you started a new project during lockdown?

No, increasing skills and experimentation of existing.

Do you have any advice for new makers?

You are good enough.

Do you have any suggestions for ways we can connect and promote as a community?

Support each other to sell online.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I’m planning to get back to making and selling through my Facebook page. Possibly preparing for Christmas/gift markets. Am loving the sense of community growing where I live. I’m planning some simple craft videos for neighbours and their children.

Call for Makers

Maker Interviews Questionnaire

Our markets are on hold for now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April we held the first virtual Make & Mend Market to connect as a community and make sure our customers know we’re still here and still making.

To help make a big noise about our work I’d like to publish some maker interviews each month on our social media pages and website. Your interviews will include photos and links so customers can buy from you. If you’re interested just fill in the questionnaire and keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter on the first Saturday of the month. We’ll also be sharing your posts made with the hashtag #virtualmakeandmend.

The only requirements for joining in are that you’re a maker of things living somewhere in the North East of England, we’re encouraging people to shop local and shop small.

Due to the Coronavirus we are cancelling our 4th April and 2nd May Make & Mend Markets, at least in person. During the time the markets would take place we will be running a Virtual Make & Mend. I invite you to meet our traders and join them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and around the web using the hashtag #virtualmakeandmend.

During this time we’ll also be sharing posts by the wonderful traders of the Grainger Market, our regular venue. Many of them are noticing it’s a bit quiet right now, a lot of them are able to deliver to your home. Support your local market!

All being well we plan to resume regular market days in the Grainger Market on 6th June 2020. We hope to see you all there.
